Community in Schools in a dropout prevention program that services at-risk youth facing obstacles in Personal or academic success, CIS is a national program designed to provide services within the school to student and their families. We are a non-profit organization that currently services over 60 schools in San Antonio. The goal of CIS is to help students succeed in school and life by proving various type of services.

6 Components of CIS

 

Counseling & Supportive Guidance:

 

Individual & group, crisis, grief, anger management, life skills, and special topic classroom/school-wide presentation

 

Education Enhancement:

 

Assistance with tutoring, guided study hall, grade and attendance monitoring

 

Health and Human Services:

 

School supplies, clothing, food pantry program, vision program, transportation assistance, basic needs assistance, health fairs and service referrals/resources

 

Enrichment:

After-school activities, field trips and community service projects

 

Career Awareness:

 

Guest speakers for classrooms & school wide events and college tours, job shadowing

 

Parental Involvement

 

Parent presentations, parent workshops and guests speakers, parent/child field trips
