Uribe, Leora

Hello My Name Is...

Ms. Uribe

Social Studies 6

I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, earning a Bachelors of Art in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified to teach 4-8th grade Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies.

Earlier in my scholastic career I attended San Antonio College, earning two degrees; an Associate of Applied Science in Radio, Television, Video and Broadcasting and an Associate of Art in Education.

I worked in a non-profit community organization for 10 years teaching art. Through that career, I created curriculum, prepared students for testing and organized exhibitions. I have a lot of experience working with diverse populations at shelters and housing facilities. I also volunteer in charity fundraisers every year.

I love traveling and have visited Europe, Canada, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and other places throughout Texas and the United States. I enjoy listening to music and have a passion for protecting animals and the environment.

I co-sponsor the PEACE Club. It stands for Positive Experiences with Animals and Cultural and Environment. It is a new club that combines two previous clubs, PAWS and Art Club. If you are interested in joining, please visit the PEACE club page on the HMS website.

We will start competing in UIL this year! Please email me at leora.uribe@myhisd.net if you are interested in UIL.
